From his vaunted position as leader of the Sugar Group Companies, Gunawan Jusuf has helped to create enormous growth in a number of very important sugar-based products throughout Indonesia. Of course, none is a bigger hit than Gulaku, a premium, commercial, refined sugar product that have grown and transformed into a household name throughout the country. There are many other products coming out of the Sugar Group, that Gunawan Jusuf has nurtured into marketing success, as well. The Sugar Group Companies is not actually a single company, but rather a collection of independent companies that grow and refine sugar at plantations all over Indonesia, which they use to create many popular sugar products. In addition to the plantations, Gunawan Jusuf must also coordinate the activities of a dozen or so offices all over the country. He must also get the different companies to work together for the same purpose.
